COUNTRY PERFORMANCE VARIES
Among the 60 countries with available data, the majority have seen basic coverage increase in the year from 2002 to 2003. However, different countries face different kinds of challenges. Mali has been able to increase its coverage steadily, while Niger experienced a bounce. Cote d'Ivoire has suffered political unrest and the formerly strong system has suffered accordingly; Laos has not been able to strengthen its system.
