Health, immunization and economic growth

Free to learn: immunized children have a better chance of a decent education

It has long been accepted that, as people grow richer, their health tends to improve. However, in recent years, researchers have accumulated increasing evidence that this "wealth-health" link also works in the other direction: better health can lead to greater wealth too. Governments and others who invest in public health in a rational way, and particularly in the health of the poorest, reap rewards in better productivity and economic growth. The GAVI partnership focuses on investing in immunization, both as a human right and as one highly cost-effective means to improve the health of children and adults.
