The Board agreed to request the Director-General
of WHO to serve as Chair of the GAVI Board for a term of two years
at the completion of the UNICEF Executive Director's term as Chair
in July 2003.
Noting that the Executive Secretary's contract
will expire on 1 July 2003, the Board agreed to establish a process
for the selection and appointment of the GAVI Executive Secretary
to serve thereafter. It was agreed that the Chair would appoint
a sub-group of the Board to oversee the process, and that recruitment
should be finalised with sufficient leadtime to allow a smooth
transition.
