The Governance team works with GAVI staff and partners to set the strategic agenda for all Board and committee deliberations. In this capacity, the team works to ensure transparency in all Board activities; briefs Board members on policy issues and manages all communications to the Boards; provides outreach and support to individual partner constituencies; oversees development of all meeting documentation; and organises all governance meetings. The team includes expertise in both corporate and public sector governance to meet the unique needs of a public-private partnership.
Lisa Jacobs, Head, Governance
Lisa Jacobs is Head of Governance at the GAVI Alliance. In this role she
oversees corporate governance throughout the whole GAVI Alliance as well as the
relationship between the Boards and the Secretariat. Prior to joining GAVI she
was a Press Officer for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS)
serving as the initial contact for all media enquiries including requests for
information, interviews, story development, and response to controversial topics
such as mandatory HIV reporting and compulsory licensing of HIV/AIDS drugs. She
has been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and The Economist
among others and has been published in a variety of media from medical
publications for Novartis to fictional novels for Bantam. An original GAVI staff
member, Jacobs received her B.A. from the University of California,
Berkeley.
