Discussion
- The Lessons Learned on GAVI Procurement study
is being conducted by Piers Whitehead of Mercer Management, building
upon a 1993 vaccine industry study of a similar nature, also prepared
by Mercer Management.
- The Lessons Learned study will provide a trend
analysis of the vaccine industry since the 1993; outline the implications
of changes on the economics and current and future developing
country vaccine supply and pricing. The study will also include
recommendations for meeting the short, medium and long-term public
sector goals.
- The study will also explore how the industry and
other partners experienced the process to support the forecasting,
procurement, purchasing, and delivery of vaccines on behalf of
GAVI and The Vaccine Fund, and the impact it had on their decisions.
In particular the study will review the security of near term
vaccine supply for the poorest 74 countries and suggest options
for improvements.
