Outcomes: most recent data on the impact of support from GAVI/The Vaccine Fund and the work of GAVI partners
INCREASING ACCESS TO VACCINES
Since 2000, GAVI/The Vaccine Fund resources have enabled countries
to increase access to all necessary vaccines. According to current WHO
estimates of cumulative impact, by the end of 2005:
- 13 million more children were reached with basic vaccines
- 135 million more children were reached with new vaccines
- nearly 1 billion auto-disable syringes have been delivered
- Coverage of hepatitis B vaccine in GAVI-eligible countries: 66% (was 20% in 2000)
