EPI Expanded Program on Immunization

Eligible country
Countries with less than US$ 1000 per capita Gross National Income (GNI) are eligible for Vaccine Fund support. Starting 2006, the number of GAVI eligible countries will be 72.

Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI)
Launched by WHO in 1974 as a global infrastructure to enable health systems in countries to deliver a series of basic vaccines to infants. The foundation for routine immunization services throughout the developing world, many countries still refer to their national immunization systems as ‘EPI’.
